I forgot to tell you guys what monologue I was doing! I am so lazy sometimes. Haha. Well, I'm doing that first monologue from one of my previous posts. You know, the one when a girl named Angie is recounting her relationship to her ex-boyfriend (who happens to be a magician.) It's really fun. My friend who is helping me and I decided that she should be emotional and a little psychotic... That's the thing about monologues. You have to make sure you have a very strong character and put A LOT of beats in there. I think I said this the other day, but a monologue is boring if there is no change in emotion or dynamic.
Never be afraid to write on your monologue A LOT! This is called scoring. Scoring is when you write notes about when and where you pause, rise in pitch, get angry, etc. All of these markings are great ways to create a perfect performance. You don't want to just say the lines- you need feeling. Do you know what I mean??? I hope so.
So, my monologue has been perfected as much as possible. :) Now I'm turning my focus on the song, "In My Own Little Corner." Honestly, I am more of a singer than anything. I have been doing it for a much longer time than the other performing arts.
*Sigh* Yup, I'm sighing. I cannot wait anymore for the audition. I'm determined to blow the director's away. I will strive to stay positive, regardless of the times I tend to put myself down.
